Special Occasion

There will be music – polka and swing.

Oh, fill me up with your dancing before you put me down.

He seldom goes out to anything,

But tonight in his dress-up best

There will be music – polka and swing.

Reels and waltzing, and all the rest.

How long it takes for him to get dressed.

And tonight with him in his dress-up best,

I dream of dancing, my mary janes pressed

Atop his Italian leather shoes.

How long must it take for him to get dressed?

Dancing with Papa, I cannot lose

My grip on his work-roughened fingers.

Balancing atop his Italian leather shoes.

I swoop and I sway, and dream I can linger,

My grip so tight on his work-roughened fingers.

Tonight, Papa is going out on the town.

Please, fill me up with your dancing before you put me down.

Marsha is brilliant. She is a writer and poet, a musician, a composer and lyricist and a wonderful cartoonist. She is an incredible storyteller and could enthrall and enchant a room with something as simple as recounting her day.
